Yoshiaki Harada, originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, is a bureaucrat, politician, and lawyer. After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law, he worked at Nippon Steel Corporation before joining the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Serving in various roles, including as Chief Secretary to Minister Michio Watanabe, he transitioned to politics, winning a seat in the House of Representatives in the 39th general election. Despite a loss in the 40th election, he later regained his seat in the 41st general election, representing Fukuoka Prefecture.
Throughout his political career, he has held positions such as Vice Minister of Education and Chairman of key committees in the House of Representatives. Harada briefly served as Minister of the Environment and Minister of State for Special Missions in nuclear disaster preparedness in the 4th Abe Cabinet before resigning due to a cabinet reshuffle.
